Where a vehicle sits usually decides how the pickup goes. These are the situations that come up most often in the city.
Street and permit parking
Tell Jay about permit zones, rush-hour restrictions, separated bike lanes and how tightly the car is parked. There has to be room to tilt the deck and winch safely.
Back lanes and narrow access
Much of East Vancouver, Mount Pleasant and Kitsilano is easier from the lane. Overhanging carports, fences and bins decide whether a flatbed fits.
Condo and apartment parking
Many buildings want notice before a truck sits at the loading door. Ask your building manager what they need and what hours they allow.
Underground parkades
Never assume a parkade vehicle can be removed until the entrance height, interior height, level, distance to the exit, tires, brakes, steering and keys have been reviewed.

Most straightforward pickups take roughly 15 to 30 minutes after Jay arrives. Difficult access or a seized vehicle takes longer.

Jay prefers to see valid photo identification and the vehicle registration when it is available, along with the keys when they exist. Licence plates should normally be removed before the vehicle leaves.
If the registration has been lost, contact Jay before pickup so the situation can be reviewed. Not every vehicle can be accepted without proof of ownership. Jay does not give legal advice — for ICBC procedures, confirm current requirements with an Autoplan broker.
The vehicle is delivered to an automotive recycling facility. Reusable parts may be recovered, and fluids, batteries, tires and other materials are handled through the recycling process. The remaining metal is prepared for recycling.
Not every part of every vehicle is recovered, and this site does not publish invented recycling percentages.
