Tell me how far back the car sits, what the surface is, whether a carport roof or a low garage opening limits the height, and whether anything else is parked in the way. A car at the end of a forty foot driveway with a working vehicle in front of it is a different job from the same car sitting at the curb.

Many of these calls are not about a breakdown at all. The vehicle was replaced, the person who drove it stopped driving, insurance lapsed, and it has been sitting since. It might even run.

A running vehicle can be worth more, but that is not automatic. Condition, completeness, make, model and demand all matter. What I can tell you on the phone is what the quote is based on, and I will tell you plainly if I think the vehicle is worth more to you than it is worth to me.

Marine Drive, Knight Street, Fraser Street, Main Street and 49th Avenue are the routes I use to reach most of these pickups, and bridge and truck routes along the Fraser River side affect timing more than they affect the job itself.

What that means for you is practical: if you need a specific window, say so when you call. Scheduling around traffic on the main routes is easier when it is planned rather than squeezed in.

More than one vehicle on the property

It is not unusual here for a property to have two vehicles that both need to go, or a vehicle plus a set of parts, wheels or a spare engine. Mention that on the first call. Multiple vehicles can often be handled in a planned sequence, and knowing in advance is what makes that possible.

What the vehicle is worth

There is no single price for a junk car. The quote comes from the year, make and model, what is wrong with it, whether the vehicle is complete, whether major parts such as the engine, transmission, wheels and catalytic converter are still on it, whether it rolls and steers, whether the keys are available, and what the removal itself takes.

For a vehicle that has simply stopped being used rather than failed, completeness is usually the biggest factor. All four wheels present, the engine and transmission still in it, the catalytic converter still fitted and a body that has not been stripped will all show up in the quote.
